13:25 agree with you Kenan, right now in my country there's a current trend for keeping tortoise as a pet all thanks to local influencer and pet YouTubers who keep promoting tortoise and turtle as a pets, But sadly most of them promote the hobby as collectible value and this is because some of them are also tortoise sellers. I mean i am okay if you are making content to promotes your business, but at least educate people first.

Amazing small rare turtles. Those are species of I have seen only a few times on the internet, and some for the first time. Also small species always have the most crazy colors and adaptations.

The dude clearly has a protocol he strictly follows for the health and safety of the animals in his collection. Set the camera down and wash your hands. I can feel that man’s anxiety through the camera.

@Charlie Moorcroft it’s a simple respect for rules of the house. You’re diligent in preventing cross contamination. All it takes is one time of letting your guard down. Fred followed suit without being told like an adult. Kenan could’ve done the same. It’s like walking into someone’s house with your shoes on after they just took theirs off at the door. Gosh how I HATE these food markets that sell these amazing animals with a PASSION 😤😡😠🤬 And I know that it's part of their way of life, cooking and survival. Back in the days ppl who starved caught wild turtles and basically anything they can feed their families with. But we're in 2021 now and these animals have been hunted and poached to extinction and that's where you draw the clear line! I know someone will say that it's meat and I eat meat, so I shouldn't be judging. But these turtles and many other even protected species if animals are still being eaten, sold and are out in the open at these wet markets and everyone looks the other way, including the authorities, so they will continue to be poached into extinction and they seem to ok with that? I don't get it! None of the meat I'm eating is on the brink if extinction and I also make sure I get my meat from a local farmer where the animals are humanely raised, kept and butchered. I wish I could be meat free, but I've tried it and I'm weak when it comes to that. I'm very happy that ppl all over the world are trying to make sure to breed them as much as possible, so their species can be protected on this earth 🌎

This is pretty anecdotal but perhaps the coloration on eastern box turtles could be camouflage, but I believe that they are considered dangerous to eat because certain times of year they ingest toxic toadstools which can make their flesh toxic. Perhaps it is both camo and a potential warning to predators.

KENAN, you need to visit Jeremy Thompson and the Kinyxs turtles. They need you to highlight them. There were a bunch of belliana just imported. They are so different in care than most tortoises.

Yes, Jeremy is awesome. I've decided Kenan doesn't read comments on his videos. I've suggested he do a visit to Jeremy and call attention to the plight if the Kinyxs species in the pet trade 5 or 6 times now over the last year. I guess you have to be a Patron supporter to get noticed.

I think most youtubers (hosts) don't come back to the comments after the initial few hours or day. You could Google your questions and there's likely many, many answers and sources. I would take a sampling of them all and go with the most popular and believable information. You might be able to search it on youtube too. I know Clint's reptiles get's back to his people regularly and loves turtles and tortoises.

BTW I was never really into turtles/tortoises, but, thanks to Kamp Kenan, now I really appreciate (if not adore) these interesting critters - looking forward to every new video starring these guys. Nevertheless, I'm too old and too ill by now to even consider caring for one by myself.

When I found Kenan's channel, It seemed to be about lizards ( which I miss seeing as much on them) then not long after he found one of them dead ( it was a male that lived by Pinkie). Anyway, I liked turtles and tortoises enough so I watch, I won't have them, but I still like to watch, learn and catch a moment here and their of the lizards. So maybe this could be the next best thing for you :)

Just a theory: what if the red in red foots attract little insects, thinking it may be fruit, and the tortoise than eat them when they get too close.

I’m one of those people that knew nothing about tortoises/turtles and became more educated from watching this channel. I really appreciate them so much more than I did before. Please make the captions available. I couldn't understand what Mr. Fred was asking. When he is talking I turn on the captions so I don't miss any of his useful knowledge.

They don't do their captions, so it's just a guess by the youtube people/computer, on what the hosts and guests are saying. I read captions all the time, captions of things that are said and easily understood unless you are a youtube captioner (or computer). I watch them mess up about snakes and snake genetics and breeding all the time. My daughter that is deaf said it's computer generated, so it won't be very accurate.

Awesome facility, awesome keeper, i respect his infection control procedures, so important, especially for multiple species kept in close proximity indoors!

I like how Charlie specializes in smaller tortoises. He works well with them and his conservation work is successful. I appreciate that he knows his strengths in smaller tortoises.

There's no need to pressure him to get into larger tortoises because if he is not successful (since he knows he is not as strong in that area of expertise) then he has done more harm than good. Keep up the good work with what you're currently doing, Charlie!

Some keepers just keep buying or taking in more animals in the name of “conservation” but not having enough space, knowledge or the needs that those animals requires.
