You will never fully build trust with a Croc monitor or Nile monitor. You should never handle a croc monitor, they have a scissor bite and remove flesh, its not worth the risk in any situation.

Asian Water monitors are generally so friendly. Nile monitors are super hard to tame just like your croc monitor. The best monitor lizard is the Argus monitor (Varanus panoptes) they are smart, calm, not aggressive and love digging. Great set up, you look after them properly.

I'm not keen on NERD Kevin's monitor cages as they seem a bit small and very plain unlike kamp kenan's which look like they offer better conditions for the monitors.

How much do the heating pads coast? Also cant you make the heating pads solar powered. I would like to figure out a ways to do that.

I have seen a Monitor lizard in real life in Australia raiding a turtle nest on Fraser Island. I was on a tour and we stopped at a small lake and everyone saw him eating. It was 6 feet away from me.

heya Kenan just wondering... while I dont have the confidence to get and care for a croc monitor (YET)... i would love to have a Slinky of my own. And you are someone I know, who is knowledgeable on this matter. Would you consider sharing your enclosure specs? height, width, etc. Material. Basically like a DIY slinky enclosure instruction guide? or is it something like personal/confidential copyright (im not sure of the term... like the deets and idea belong to you) they look really well designed (including the many recent upgrades you made) and they look enriching to all your animals. Its not just a "bare minimum" enclosure a reptile can survive in, but might be unhappy. They look like they are having a great life, and I want that too. i will most likely want to add some of my own flare and customization, but I think i want to trust in your expertise and knowledge on the basic structure and design. (like the new thermostat you shared... or the new locks you added last time) again i'd totally understand if its confidential and not something you'd give out freely, but would be cool if its okay to share (talking bout his current enclosure btw.. or like pinky's. I do not think I have the space and budget for this planned slinky aquascape! haha)

I saw my uncle die in front of me in my grandma's car when we took him to the hospital he had a heart attack it was a big one i saw the doctors working on him in the back room they were doing cpr on his heart they had a camera inside him i saw his heart and it wasn't good his heart below up he had foam from his mouth when i saw that i know that he was gone

I know this sounds crazy, but maybe read to her. Sit in her habitat with a comfortable chair and read to her. Dickens or the like. Something long and literary and involved that will keep your mouth busy and let her just listen to the cadence of your voice. I don't even know if it matters what you read. Articles in a bike magazine would be great too! We do this with horses that have been abused, have school children come after school to read to them and help them adjust to having people around them again.

Kevin is a water monitor master, so he's a great one to learn from. I dream of owning one of his beautiful 4th generation, captive bred and socialized babies. I've been there and interacted with them, but I just can't afford one. 😕

So pinky also needs an enclosure maybe made so part of his enclosure passes through her enclosure (or vice/versa) so that introduction is a little easier for them?!?!

Kenan do you still have those iguanas in the old zoo exhibit enclosure. I haven't seen them in a while, or if you moved them I haven't realized they were the same ones.

Slinky-- he's like a cross between a dog and a little kid at times. And then, when he's acting really "lizardy," he's more like one of those Reptile Aliens you hear about. The reptiles are just so utterly different from furry animals. I wouldn't call them dumb but different is definitely the word to use. They're really not that unsettling, either. I've seen cats behave around prey (mice) just like Slinky did with that water snake not long ago so they're not THAT dissimilar. Aside from the tortoises, THIS is the animal I see displaying something most like a personality and real intelligence. He's no dummy -- he's already proven he's an escape artist. He's a character and the Mascot/Mickey of Kamp Kenan!

Jeff pelphery he still does have buttcup but his friend is babysitting her for the time being as kenan is waiting on his permit paperwork for keeping conditional species of reptiles as butter cup is a conditional species of animal

I just had a thought while watching this. How about when you build Slinky his tennis ball court sized enclosure you separate it into three adjacent cages and put the females on either side of Slinky. Put internal doors on each side. Then they can get used to being around each other. If it's already been thought of and commented, I apologize so don't @ me - I don't read all 500 comments on every video. That's Kenan's job. 😜

Quick question. How much does it cost to feed all of your animals? I spend $$$ on frozen rodents for my snakes and my tortoises eat as much as horses, I swear. I was just curious what your feeding bill looks like with all of the crazy cool critters you have down there.

He stated before he buys all the produce from a local farmers market and it’s about $40-50 a trip, which I believe is once a week. The frozen stuff was a little more than that for a month supply if I remember correctly.

Why don’t you give Pinky one third of Slinky’s new enclosure out the back and have an internal door between them? Then they could get used to each other’s presence and it’d be easier to let one walk to meet the other - plus, an upgrade for Pinky!

Hey Kevin, ever use La Crosse mobile temperature sensors? The connect to the internet via WiFi and can send you alerts when temps drop below a certain set point. Like 40$ for a kit and they work good. I have them all over my farm

Good question I wondered that too, but for some reason I think he said she was checked and damage is too far gone. Of course that may have been a different monitor I'm thinking of not to mention the stress or anesthesia could kill her. Still wonder if anything could be done.

Because private keepers are not allowed to own them. Zoos have them on loan from the Indonesian government and all hatchlings must be returned to them to help rebuild the wild population.
