It looks a lot like a black tail cribo, at first glance, only more yellow (with brown tinges) and a thinner build than the cribo....and seemingly less moody :P

Gahhhh I would love a big colubrid!! Puffing snakes and crebos blow me away every time I see them. So much fun to work with! Have worked with adult yellow-tailed crebos and puffing snakes, and they are such incredibly impressive and unique snakes!!

Actually Rosenberg or Heath monitor is found further south than lace monitors in SouthEastern Australia., also found in South Western Australia and more cold tolerant of any monitor. Probably don't have them there in the states. I live in Perth Western Australia and they are found south of where I live we have Southern Goulds Monitors which are also fairly cold tolerant! They bromate over winter and we see them from spring to Autumn. Because of the mild winter we have they don't fully hibernate, Warmer than average temperatures can bring them out briefly during winter, our climate is a mild Mediterranean style climate.
